Spooky, Spooky Pokémons!

May 4th, 2016

I was never a fan of this critter, or any of the other darkity-dark-dark pocket monsters.

It's the beginning of the month, and you know what that means! Of course you do! Those fine crack dealers at Nintendo ® are giving away another Pokémon ™ this May! Unfortunately, you have to haul your carcass out of your basement nerd hole in order to fetch this one, for they're only giving them away at your unfriendly neighborhood GameStop ™ store, just like in February.

This one, I think from the fourth generation of Pokémon ™, is Darkrai. He's one of those darkity-dark-dark types that they first started farting out in the second generation of games, because I guess the ghostly-ghost-ghost ones weren't, uh, spooky enough? Something! Anyway, not a fan of this fellow, specifically speaking, but he's free, and he's level one hundred, so why not, right?

But wait, there's more! On top of that, they're also offering you a downloadable Pokémon ™ as well. So if you're just too lazy to put pants on, you can at least get you a Zygarde! This critter is also level one hundred, and I guess was going to be the star of his very own Pokémon ™ game, but that apparently fell through. Thus, you get to have him for the free!

So I guess that's three months of downloadable Pokémon ™ in a row, if you include March and April. Of course, they'll probably make it a bit tricksy to get your new Pokémons into the upcoming, seventh generation cartridges, sort of like they did with the fifth, because these freebies would likely roll over anything in the player's path. And then you'd have to explain the glaring plot hole.

Namely, 'how did this ten year old kid get his/her hands on these ultra-powerful monsters fresh out of town?' Or you could just ignore the plot and continue your effort to Catch 'em All ™. And you'll have to if you're OCD about that, like I am. I mean, I went to the trouble to Catch 'em All ™ in the first place. I wouldn't dream of letting that slide. Twitch. Twitch.
