Feeling good!

Energy Tank: Full Enough (for government work).

I do believe I am full of energy. Which is a good thing, I suppose, in that this indicates that physically, at least, I have fully adjusted to my new, lower calorie diet. Sure, there are the occasional slip-ups, such as the cheeseburger I indulged in this evening, but for the most part I'm eating a whole lot better. By far.

It's also a good thing because, though my energy tank is full, I imagine it'll be fully depleted by the time this coming week is done. I'll be doing twelve hour days all week, assuming calamity doesn't get in the way of my doing so, and if I can manage it, these twelve hour days will be going on through Sunday. So that's seven days at twelve hours apiece. Eighty four hours of work, all in all.

You may find yourself asking why on earth I'm doing this to myself. Well, for one thing, there is an 'emergency' at work, and they need me to get something out the door by the middle of February. Something that wasn't even planned for until last month... which messes with our two month lead time to get units out, what with us having to usually wait a few more months to get materials for each unit in first.

I could just point and laugh at the management, and make them suck up yet another missed deadline, but the truth is that I could use the cash as well. Brenda and I are totally comfortable where we are, but I was hoping to jumpstart my savings just a little bit, so I figured all of this overtime should help me in that regard. That and we have a few other things the money could help with in the long term.

So yeah, I'll be spending more time at work than at home over the next twelve days, what with me working through the weekend, as well. This will be a good test of both my patience with the foolish humans I work with, my willpower in the face of my usual urge to snack myself to death when pulling these hours, and my ability to follow through by actually putting in the amount of time I've planned to.

On the plus side, while I'm cutting calories, I'm not cutting caffeine. That means I can inhale as much Builders ™ tea and Red Bull ™ as my body can stand over the course of this ordeal. Not that this is a whole lot. If I take in more than one Red Bull ™ within a given twelve hours, I tend to suffer adverse side effects. Like, you know, my heart attempting to eject itself from my rib cage.

Not recommended.
