What won't China do to rip you off?

April 25th, 2016

You know how hard it is to not name names here.

We have many issues at work that are gnawing at our progress. A lot of it involves a new software system the powers that be thought would aid in the completion of parts, when in fact it does not. Another is them outsourcing all of our parts procurement people to another facility, which means nobody here knows anything about when parts we ask for should show up - or even if they ever will.

What's really kicking us in the pants, however, are janky ass counterfeit parts from China.

We build high-octane power electronics for military aircraft, for the most part, so we're not supposed to be using anything from the land of theft and honey. And yet, we somehow keep finding nasty Chinese gear mixed into our part loads. Or, as the current case happens to be, parts we buy are made in America, but have components used in their manufacture bought from the Chinese.

Well, if you know anything about how the government approves military hardware, this is a critical no-no. So, having found out about all this, just about everything we've built over the last ten years (which was well before I got here) is now suspect. And, as it so happens, everything we've built that we have on hand is now on 'hold' until they decide whether or not to suck this up.

Whoever was responsible for this ought to have their head dipped in molten lead and cadmium, their agonized bust preserved for the world to see as an object lesson of what you shouldn't do to squeeze a few bucks of profit out of your customers. Because seriously, if planes are ever found to have dropped out of the sky because of this, you better bet someone's head is going to roll.

Were I in charge they would, at least, when you sell out your own military in order to earn a quarterly bonus.
